How we produce and review our finance content

Our content exists to help UK businesses understand commercial finance and make better-informed decisions. This page explains who writes our content, how we check it, and how we keep it accurate.

Who writes our content

Our articles are written by named finance professionals where authorship can be accurately assigned, and by the FinanceMyCompany.co.uk editorial team otherwise. Named authors include qualified accountants and professional bankers with direct commercial finance experience. You can read about our team on the About page and on individual author profiles.

How professional expertise is applied

Finance topics are approached from practical, first-hand experience of arranging commercial finance. Where an article touches a regulated or specialist area, it is framed as general information rather than personal advice, and we direct readers to speak to a specialist for their specific circumstances.

How facts, rates and statistics are checked

Specific figures — interest rates, LTV ranges, fees, timelines, tax rules and government scheme details — are checked against authoritative primary sources at the time of writing. Where a figure is time-sensitive, we either cite the source or present it as an indicative, non-specific range and note that it may change. We do not present indicative figures as guaranteed or current offers.

How authoritative sources are selected

We prioritise primary, official sources — including GOV.UK, the Financial Conduct Authority, the Bank of England, the British Business Bank, Companies House, HMRC and, where relevant, official lender documentation. Sources are cited at the foot of an article only when they support a claim actually made in that article. We do not add sources for appearance.

When content is reviewed and updated

Articles are reviewed periodically and when we become aware of a material change (for example, a change to a government scheme, base rate or regulatory rule). A “last reviewed” date is shown only after a substantive review has genuinely taken place. We do not change publication dates merely to make articles appear newer.

How corrections are handled

If we identify an error, we correct it promptly and, where the error was material, note the correction on the page. If you spot something you believe is incorrect, please contact us and we will review it.

How AI and automation are used

We may use AI and automation tools to assist with drafting, formatting and research tasks, working alongside our finance professionals. AI does not replace professional review: substantive finance content is reviewed by a qualified person before publication, and any AI-assisted material is checked for accuracy in the same way as our other content.

This is not personal advice

Our publications are general information for UK businesses. They do not constitute personalised financial, tax, accounting or legal advice, or a recommendation to apply for any product. Lending is subject to lender criteria, underwriting and individual circumstances. For guidance specific to your situation, speak to one of our specialists.
